GPR essential for Wind Turbine Foundation Investigations

IMG_1375Wind turbine foundations are a critical structural component and the sizeable concrete foundations required for modern wind turbines must be heavily reinforced with large diameter hi-tensile reinforcing bars.

During structural investigations requiring coring and/or drilling works, it is essential that the location of embedded reinforcement is identified to minimise the risk of damage.

The use of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is preferred to normal covermeters in these investigations because of the need to location multiple layers of embedded reinforcing bars up to 300mm in the concrete.
