In late 2013, Infrastruct AMS completed the refurbishment of Knockyellan Reservoir. The reservoir was constructed a few years earlier but had not entered service and as part of an overall upgrade of the water supply system in the area, the reservoir was to be brought into service to provide additional capacity.
Infrastruct AMS provided the following services:
- Removal of the existing access hatches on the reservoir roof and installation of concrete upstands with secure, ventilated and lift assisted galvanised steel access hatches (hatch type 2111, 1200mm x 1200mm);
- Excavation and placement of concrete pad footings, construction of upstands and installation of galvanised steel access hatches to secure the control valves around the reservoir (hatch type 2111, 900mm x 900mm);;
- Cleaning and chlorination of the reservoir including hi-pressure cleaning of the inlet and outlet pipes within the reservoir.
All works were carried out in accordance with the guidance given in the EPA Advice Note 10 ‘Service Reservoirs Inpection Cleaning and Maintenance’.
